When the term incident response is raised, the first thing that might come to mind is organizations having to prepare for a possible cyber incident that might adversely affect its operations and bottom line.
And that is, indeed, true as ever, but incident response is also the business of anyone operating an endpoint, including consumers, whether using the internet on a desktop, laptop or mobile device. With attacks such as ransomware rising uncontrollably, constant escalation in mobile threats, and cybercriminals devising more ways to compromise and use personal data, it is high time for consumers to have an incident response plan of their own.
As a consumer, do you have a backup system set up for your important files and cherished memories.
It is easy to set up cloud backups, and a low-cost option is to also own an external drive you can save your files to and keep disconnected from the endpoint. Do you know what to do to secure your online accounts. What if your password somehow gets reset and a criminal takes over your account.
Do you have a setup that will inform you of an issue outside a short message service (SMS) message. Maybe SMS is not the best option for some of your accounts, and that should not be an afterthought if that account holds any value to you. How about securing your personal details.
With personally identifiable information (PII) roaming the internet like never before, you might be the last to find out when your data has been compromised and used by a criminal.
From medical fraud to insurance fraud to taking out a loan in your name, criminals will stop at nothing, and often money will only be the start of the problem. Plan for a rainy day by setting up special alerts on use of your personal details and make sure you get a call if ever a new credit line or loan is requested on your behalf. Brian Evans, senior managing consultant: Artificial intelligence (AI) solutions will become an integral part of any cybersecurity program in the not-too-distant future.
AI can speed up the detection and analysis as well as increase decision-making time, accuracy and protection measures. QRadar Advisor with Watson already offers an AI-human combination and puts us one step closer to the future by harnessing the power of Watson for Cyber Security to enable security analysts to respond to threats with greater speed and scale.
Neil Jones, market segment manager for application security: A major data breach or a physical security incident will result in casual users taking location tracking capabilities on their mobile applications much more seriously. Applications will also be more likely to inform users that location information is being easily provided to other global users of the apps.
Rohan Ramesh, senior product marketing manager for Watson for Cyber Security: We are moving toward a more connected world with the Internet of Things (IoT) and rapid evolution of technology and software. With rapid innovation, businesses and individuals that are slow to upgrade or keep up with the latest software are left with unsupported software and systems that may have unpatched vulnerabilities.
My prediction is that the majority of hackers will take advantage of these unpatched and unsupported systems, as they have been in recent years, to cause greater damage to reputation and financial bottom line. Therefore, endpoint hygiene is still going to be a high priority as computing power and business logic moves from the cloud to devices for real-time processing of information.
James Murphy, offering manager for Watson IoT Platform: The value of the IoT to society and business will grow as the number and variety of devices connecting to the internet continues to expand. Having access to a trusted IoT platform will be the first step in the right direction.
Just like the adoption of the smartphone, the IoT will be ubiquitous and expected in everyday life. However, it will take trusted partnerships to sustain the integrity and security posture of those IoT solutions. Individuals and businesses will have to master the basics of IoT security. IoT security and operational integrity will be best addressed though shared responsibility and a multipronged approach to help realize the value of IoT solutions. Michelle Alvarez, threat researcher and editor: I predict that some of our predictions will fail gasp.
Just look at Y2K predictions.Off page SEO, such as link building, can be a tricky business and, for some, is a tactic to avoid altogether. Not all link building is web spam and in fact, building links in 2017 is still an incredibly important aspect of search engine optimisation. In link building, A natural link is a freely given editorial link and an unnatural link is a link you make yourself.Inheritance format and document
Both affect rankings in Google. Back To Table Of ContentsJust before April 2012, after years of Google doing little to combat this type of off-page SEO at scale, even an inexperienced link builder could make just about anything rank in Google, for anything, without much consequence. Simply by creating a 300-word article and building 500 unnatural links to it from (even very low-quality blogs) with unique anchor text, spread out over a few months, you could achieve top rankings.
It can still be effective, but this activity comes with an increased risk of Google penalty, even when you are an experienced black-hat. Google has a few surprises for Webmasters bending the rules using what they call spammy links. My blog is not a black hat SEO blog. I work with companies who are thinking of the long-term health of their business and who understands that the key to ranking in Google in the future is by making the website better, richer in content and the best user experience it can be.
Too many people submit spam reports and too many people engage in negative SEO for me to invest too much in unnatural links these days. If you want to rank in Google with any confidence in the long-term, you are going to have to INVEST in GOOD, IN-DEPTH content, and a few GREAT links.
You can ALWAYS pick up the odd decent link to good content. This page is an example. I deleted some old posts on the Hobo blog, reworked some out of date advice, merged similar content. I added some videos from Google, who now advise on the subject-matter where they once did not, and I created this in-depth page that, I hope, is of some use for beginners wishing to market a website successfully in Google in 2017.
Some bloggers did notice, however. But before that, let us look at the big traders or the warren buffets of this world. Interestingly, you can easily see which sites you are in competition with in the SERPs by looking for similar ranking keywords.
Take for example Hobo-Web. Quality content drives the organic link building end-results Google claims it wants to reward with visibility in its SERPs. High-quality seo copywriting has never been so important. Google often still relies on links to find, index, categorise and rate websites (and pages) in 2017.
Content will always be king (especially in the future) but without links, content can still be a moot point. Links are like lasers. Links have the potential to make a site hot, and send that site to the top of the results.
Some links get hotter in time, some get colder, and some disappear as each site is affected by those linking to it and from it. In the diagram below, you can see in any collection of pages, there is natural heat, naturally hot and cold sites, because of the natural interlinking going on between pages.
In this model, popular sites are hotter than unpopular sites, and this is a reflection of the real webHot sites are well known and well linked to and more likely to rank for any term if a page is properly optimised on-page and via the internal navigation structure of the website.
Hello, Google Supplemental Index. Or whatever Google calls it in 2017. Google hates paid links because it is an obvious way to generate heat signature, and ranking ability, a site might not deserve. One thing is for sure, though. If Google were confident they could via algorithmic calculation clearly identify paid links, the whole internet marketing industry would not have been talking about the war on paid links. The hotter a site, or rather page, the better the link for your site.
If a keyword is in the anchor text of the link, even better, but only if it is an EDITORIAL LINK, in 2017. The problem is, the easiest links to find out there are on pages with very cold, or at least very diluted heat signatures. I prefer focusing on improving those signals above, rather than just manipulating link popularity. Google calls that spam, and will punish you for it if it detects an intent to deceive its algorithms.

Christine, United States South and West in Detail, June 2016 This was a great way to see Iceland - just rent a car and drive around to the best sites, stopping for surprises along the way. The planning was taken care of for us, but we didn't have to travel with a group.
This trip is ideal for independent travelers. The travel and accommodation arrangements made for us could not have worked more smoothly. Abhishek, India Golden Route of the Nordic Countries, June 2016 Thank you so much for the amazing tour.

The price, the services promised and delivered were top notch. Perfect in all ways. It was nice not having to worry about buying tickets or reserving hotel rooms for each location. But we didn't feel like we were on a big group tour, we could still wander and explore at our leisure. Andrew and Jennifer, United Kingdom Iceland Full Circle, June 2016 Overall a fantastic holiday, beautiful scenery, wonderful food and very friendly locals.Route 1 was easy to drive around and we saw some amazing scenery on our route.
Accomodation was basic with shared bathrooms on the package we chose but they can be pgraded to private. We felt the experience to be a very good experience. From the start of our query re: taking a holiday in Scandinavia Irja was very helpful - she was quick to respond to our queries and was always polite and helpful.
Our trip was organised to our expectation and in some cases exceeded our expectationTickets, everything went without a hitch and we were able to find our way around all the countries that we visited and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Kolbrun was great and always was very responsive to request or email. I would recommend her service to anyone. Organisation was excellent - saving us the headaches of flight booking, car hire etc. Information pack was comprehensive with interesting suggestions.
Our information pack failed to arrive before we left home (but we were in Norway for a week before our itinerary started). Delighted to find it waiting for us at check in at our Oslo hotel.
Any concerns I had were promptly responded to and effectively dealt with by Kolbrun. Delighted with our holiday and by our experiences of Nordic Visitor, and cannot recommend highly enough. My husband and I went on the 10 day self guided tour of Iceland August 10-19. The books and maps we received help us plan each day and the inss and hostels they picked for us were comfy and perfect. I am an organizer so getting the information sent to us first was great. I had the tour planned but of course when we got there - there were many things to see.
The phone they gave us was a big help with dinner reservations. More than enough mins. When we first arrived we stopped by the office and they went over the map with us and asked us what we wanted to see and then pointed out great items all over the country to stop.
We were able to hit every one of them. I recommend Nordic Visitor to anyone. They are a great help and so organized. We really appreciated the fine service and flexibility provided by our agent Larus as well as the entire NV staff. The trip exceeded expectations.Raichu first edition 29/62
Thanks to Alexandra who organised our trip very comprehensively. We were very impressed with all the suggestions and how the map corresponded with the itinerary. We even went to the homemade ice cream seller Alexandra highlighted and had delicious dandelion ice cream. The preparation ensured our holiday went really smoothly.
I found the process incredibly easy and informative. The map provided to us with areas of interest was used often and I found all of the documentation to be extremely helpful but easy to process. Erla accommodated all of our requests - she kept us updated and informed. The best part about this thriving channel. Anyone can use it. When it comes to marketing on the Internet, content is king. That means no matter what type of small business you have, you need to focus on creating quality content for the right audience.
Here are a few examples: Think of Instagram as a digital magazine. Meaning, you should be posting content that shares a similar style or vibe. This way you can stand out in the feed and Instagram users will instantly recognize you. You can crop your images the same way, or use the same filter or color theme on all of your pictures. If you are just getting started, Instagram can be a great place to build and establish an ambiance for your biz.
That might seem kind of obvious, but sounding and looking casual can sometimes take a lot of work.

I don't expect them to get anything from this, but if you lose to Arsenal and Chelsea it isn't too bad. It is the games against Stoke, Newcastle and Bournemouth that matter most. Chelsea are a superior football team by far.
